About the program

Airport staff use a variety of software systems to manage airline operations and ensure the efficient handling of flights, passengers, and baggage.
Here’s a brief overview of some key types of software used:

  • Airport Operational Database (AODB):
This system stores real-time flight information such as schedules, gate assignments, and flight statuses. It provides a central database for managing daily airport operations.

  • Departure Control System (DCS):
Used by airlines and ground staff for passenger check-in, baggage tracking, seat assignments, and boarding procedures. It ensures smooth passenger processing and communicates real-time data to relevant teams.

  • Flight Information Display System (FIDS):
Displays real-time flight information for passengers and staff, including arrivals, departures, delays, and gate changes, visible on screens throughout the airport.

  • Baggage Handling System (BHS):
Automates the routing and tracking of passenger luggage from check-in to the aircraft and vice versa. It helps prevent misplaced baggage and ensures smooth baggage transfers.

  • Resource Management System (RMS):
Allocates airport resources such as gates, check-in counters, and baggage carousels. It helps coordinate efficient resource usage based on flight schedules.

  • Security and Access Control Systems:
Manages airport security operations, controlling staff access to restricted areas and monitoring for safety breaches.

  • Airline Reservation System (ARS):
A tool used by airlines to manage bookings, reservations, and ticketing, often integrated with check-in and passenger services at the airport.

These software systems streamline operations, improve communication, and ensure that airport and airline staff can efficiently manage flight schedules, passenger processing, and airport resources.
